With the top up tonight on the way home I noticed a different ticking noise around 2500-3000 rpms... Drove it a little hard on the way home and then stopped for gas, filled up with shell v-power and the car had a rough start... Drove like a normal human the rest of the way home and that's when I heard the noise... Sounded like a rattle but was rpm dependent... Could hear it with the top up but not down. Also couldn't distinguish it in the garage with the hood open trying to replicate the noise. Basics:

06 , 84000miles.
Oil change tomorrow (5k miles-amsoil 10/30) -OEM filter
Stock engine k&n fipk, hks exhaust, test pipe, competition clutch stage two coming out this weekend.
Haven't ever burned oil. I daily the car but don't typically beat on it.
When I was driving I put the car in neutral and let it coast for a second and the noise went away. It came right back when I put the car back into gear.
No check engine light, after it started up a little rough it ran fine.
NGK OEM plugs replaced 20k miles ago (when I bought the car)

Thoughts.? Tests? I'm going to let it sit tonight, change the oil and then drive it around tomorrow to see what that changes.

 

I feel like an idiot...checked again this morning....the set screw on my ingalls torque damper backed off the mount and was rattling on the mounting bracket.... FML its fixed I think though. Going to take it for a drive later.

 

Good to see it is fixed. These cars are nearly bullet proof after all .

Yeah I feel retarded.... My brother took one look at it...I on the other hand had my ear to everything and since its in the same area as the tct.... I started to worry.... And then my mind ran wild, after the drive around town, noise gone. :--/ don't rely on your ears alone...ahhah
