Default ABS Sensors

The manual states a torque rating of 8/ft# is it possible that over torqueing these could be causing misreading by the sensor therefore throwing an ABS light?

I also just looked up part #'s and apparently they are 2 different parts for left and right, I think I may have used a left side part on the right. All the brackets bolted up fine etc. Could this be contributing to my problem? It seems like this part would be interchangable but perhaps someone could tell me otherwise

I replaced the right front sensor and have had an ABS light intermitantly since. It appears to work fine but just for my piece of mind I would like to do away with the light haha

At the front the ABS brackets bolt on to the shocks IIRC.

Please don't mess around with your brakes / ABS.
If the ABS light blinks there IS something wrong.
Your brakes will still mechanically work but when ABS would step in and save you.. it may not or not as you expect it.

Get it fixed

And usually, it is not that the bolts were too tight (unless they were stripped), but too loose. I had the problem you describe and found that I had not quite tightend one of the bolts.

BTW...it is very easy to damage the sensor or the ring when doing work around them. If one of the teeth on the ring is damaged, it can throw a code. Most common mistake with the sensor is to stretch or break the connector wire.

I broke a sensor pulling it off where it's mounted on the knuckle. It's easier to just unplug the sensor in the trunk too keep from stretching it.
