Default AC issues?

I have a 2007 S2000 with 7200 miles and I noticed that whenever I turn on the AC, it makes a clunking/click noise. I first noticed it when I turned on the car and the AC was on from the last drive, so then I turned off the AC and then I turned it back on again and it made that noise again. So throughout the night I turned it on and off a couple times and Im still getting the noise. I never noticed it before, but is it normal or not?

Is it when you hit the AC button or when you turn the fans on? Maybe something is hitting the fan? A hose or something?

I think that's happened to me a few times. When I hit the AC button, a hear a clunk. I never paid much attention to it since it seems to go away. My car is 8 years old and the AC still works, and the car hasn't blowed up, so I'll let it slide.

The fans are already on, its just when I press the AC button to turn it on, I hear the clunk/click. I never noticed it until last night.

Sounds like your hearing the A/C clutch engage , they ofter make a click on snap sound when they engage. If you notice the noise geting louder and louder take it to the dealer.

The worst that could happen would be NO A/C , it shouldn't damage anything else.

The refrigerant is the AC system reverts back to a liquid after sitting overnight and it settles in the lowest part of the AC system. The Compressor is the lowest part.

When you 1st turn on the AC or defrost you will hear a louder "thunk" when the compressor is engaged with liquid refrigerant inside.

The compressors clutch will normally loudly click when it is engaged.

Does that mean after continuous use within the day, the clunk will go away until I don't use it anymore and if I turn it on two days later, I will get the clunk noise again?
