Add me to the rear-diff blown-up club
Sorry for asking a newbie question, but i got my car a year ago with 12,500 miles. it has 14,500 on it now and i have never had the diff. oil changed and it's MY00. I don't have an owners manual because he had bought it used himself and no it wasn't in the 'secret compartment' and advice will be appereciated. please no flames.

I just had Chris's changed - went with the AMSOIL 75-90 gear oil and the dealer here had no problem with the synthic fluid. Also changed to synthic engine oil - but they used MTF for the transmission fluid change. Hhis S2000 is an 04 with 7800 miles.

So what does the dealership use when we ask for a differential fluid change?

I seriously doubt the validity of this statement. Since the S2000's diff fluid is unique from all other Honda car products (not counting Acura here) and since Honda has already admitted that their car division has NO "in-house" diff fluid for our cars (at least Honda Canada), they sure wouldn't keep it in 55 gal. drums.
Can they tell you the specs on this fluid they keep in 55 gal. drums? Viscosity? Synthetic or non? GL rating?

in fact, my honda dealership buys redline GL5 diff fluid from a nearby auto parts store. as stated, honda has no "in-house" OEM diff fluid.
@ what mileage am I supposed to change my rear diff. fluid??? I think in the owners manual it says like 30K....i have 16k right now it's a 02 and i havent replace it yet??? should i..if so what type of fluid should i use....sorry if this questions has been asked!
