Default AEM V2 Fitting advice please?

Hi there

I've got my AEM V2 CAI and am getting my local Honda dealer in the UK to fit it for me.

I was just wondering if anyone here has any tips I could pass on to them as I've heard things about making sure drain holes are blocked up so that drained water does not go into the filter etc.

Thanks!

Gibbo

Yep...there is a hole that allows water to drip right onto the filter. I have had no problems with rain...but when I wash the car it saturates the filter.

Where is this hole please?
Is it just a case of blocking it up and if so how?

Thanks!

I'll take a picture tonight...but it is along the water chanel lip under the hood...you can see down into the space where the filter would be. The hole is maybe 5/8" in diameter. I don't know yet how I am going to cover it, seems like there is a thread about it here somewhere.

This is the most obvious:

There are other places along there that water can get in. If you park the car in HEAVY rain for a long time, the only sure way is to make a filter "umbrella".
Also, installation will go much easier if one or both fans are removed. Access to the filter area can be achieved by unbolting the corner plastic tray and carefully bending the tray down and back. Removal of the bumper is an option but unnecessary. If you get a Check Engine Light after the install, re-trace all the vacuum lines as these were disconnected and extensions put on. It is quite typical to get the lines mixed up. It is also easy to reverse the one way check valve.

Has there been any reports of the AEM V2 causing this problem when standing in the rain?

I shall be getting my Honda dealer to fit the CAI for me and I shall make them aware of the drain holes and inform them of the possible problems, then hopefully they will remedy them before they can happen.

I have the V2...and if it saturates the filter when I wash the car it will certainly get soaked if just sitting in the rain. Assuming it is a hard enough rain, ie steady downpour.

Nuff said!! Plug the hole, and for added measure, make an umbrella.
