I've searched s2ki.com but couldn't find the answer.
Everything under the bonnet of my S2K is standard.
Taking the airbox off makes it sound a lot louder which in my opinion makes the S2K more fun to drive.

If driving around with the air box off does anyone know if this effects the enigne with reference to the air intake?

I'm not interested at the moment in replacing the air filter, just wondered if anyone knows whether taking the box off will cause problems?

removing the lid itself will cause no problems, but you will definitely lose power.

I've tested the lid on/off as well has many people on the board. I've seen dynos of loss of as much as 7 whp and some even more. Plus heatsoak is really bad. A wrx i used to pull on with no problem, put on a strong fight for me with the lid off..

 

My datalogger should be arriving in a couple of days, I'll keep you guys posted on exactly how much hotter IAT is with the airbox lid off.

 

i believe with the air lid off the box, the air intake temperature is about a couple degrees more than with the lid on.
