Default Alignment Spec Help

Hey Everyone,

Sorry for such a terrible thread but I am really seeking advice on an upcoming alignment. I just purchased 17x9" +45 Advan RZs with 245/40/17 mounted on them. I plan on using this set-up for everyday driving and was wondering if the factory alignment specs would be suitable for this type of set-up that I will be running. I want to assure that everything is good to go but don't want to get too crazy with camber and toe as while I'm going to be lowered slightly on BC Racing Type BR coilovers, I want to make sure factory spec alignments for this type of set-up is sufficient. Thanks in advance!

Tyler

I am not an expert but i am pretty sure you need a stiffer front sway bar not only an alignment

This thread should be over in the suspension forum for the handling gurus to chime in but what EVLS2K said is right. The oem sway bars are sized for staggered tires. If you increase the contact patch on the front without proportionately increasing the rear, it will cause oversteer. If you can manage it, then don't worry about a new swaybar but the handling characteristics of the car will change.

You can balance the non-staggered tendency to oversteer with the stock sway with some alignment tweaks. I did this before I swapped in a Saner bar. I ran a bit more aggressive camber setting and a bit more toe (near UK spec) on the back and it helped out immensely. But the AP1 chassis are already prone to wanting to swap ends from the factory... A sway bar swap on the front is must on those chassis!

What would be your advice for my alignment, I was going to just run a standard OEM alignment with this setup as I'm A.) Not going to be lowering my car barely anything, I'm essentially just balancing out the height the extra 1" rim adds and B.) don't really drive like Mario Andretti and don't plan on doing any track day (at least not in the near future). For everytday driving, is it necessary to have an aftermarket fron sway bar if I don't plan on driving like an idiot or out of my comfort zone?

You'll have tire/fender clearance issues running a factory spec alignment. I'm running a similar setup and my camber settings are -2.0/2.7 and I still rub in the rear with rolled fenders. I am running 255's though. The only part of my alignment in spec are the toe settings.
