Default Amsoil 0-30

So basically i've read that Amsoil 0-30 synthetic simply begins protecting engines faster after start-up. It is also rated for VERY cold conditions for this purpose. The 30 weight remains the same as 10w-30 and will operate the same at high temps as 10w-30. Im about to order 6 qts. What do you guys think? I'll gladly let you know how it runs once i do the oil change. (that is unless you guys have some negitive stuff to say about the oil)

I've used that for years. I don't burn oil. I expected to burn oil with the 0 weight. My car is quieter upon start up.

Amsoil SSO 0W-30 is an excellent oil. IMO, it's the best oil on the market. But it's expensive, and unless you're considering extended oil change intervals, you're wasting your money. They're are less expensive 0W-30 oils that will perform equally as well for less money.

Yes, 0W-30 oils have the same viscosity range as 10W-30 oils at operating temps, and yes, 0W-30 oils are thinner at startup, meaning they are closer to operating temp viscosity. Since cold oil does not flow as intended through all of the orifices and journals in an engine, this is an added benefit. And yes, Amsoil 0W-30 has a lower viscosity in subzero temps than almost all XW-30 oils.

I use Amsoil SSO and I think it's great. I have several UOAs to prove it. But there are plenty of folks here that use Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum and a host of other oils and have posted really good UOAs as well.

quality stuff. not cheap though. may be overkill for an n/a engine that doesn't see alot of tracks.
But again if you want piece of mind its a great oil.

You can't go wrong with SSO.
(yes, I'm using it)
Don't be afraid to use it for at least 12k miles.
(yes, I'm doing that - probably more, all highway miles)
edit: currently @ 18772 km (11666 miles) and counting
Get a 15400-PCX-004 filter too.

Excellent oil, expect a quieter motor and increased mileage as an added benefit.

Hey thanks a ton as usual guys. I ordered Bosch filters that use "filtech" i've read that is the equivilent to hondas OEM PCX which i couldn't find less then a 6 pack of. I can get the 0w-30 for $9 a quart from a prefered costomer. I'm thinkin ima try it and let it run for 5-8k. Thanks again guys.

You should sell your 5k old SSO for $1.99 a quart on Bitog.
It will be bought, especially after 5k in a Honda.
