hahaha...ok good responses! Sorry guys...I should have been more passive in my responses.

One thing about an oil change is how one gets such strong feelings about the success of their oil and filter. I've listened to many guys state "I'm using ____ and I love it!"

What the hell does that mean. How do you obtain pleasure from your oil and filter???

If you're not getting YOUR actual oil analyzed how can you tell the difference between Amsoil, Mobil1, or Advance Auto brand??? During late nights in the garage is your car letting you know it loves your choice of lubricants?

Hopefully this is an acceptable level, as to not come across as confrontational.

Fram's oil filter is just shoddy construction. Its design gives less surface area for filtration, and the end caps are cardboard. There have been recorded cases of the filter media getting detached and taking a ride into the sump. The quality is just very, very poor.

I would recommend getting the OEM Honda filter if at all possible. When I had my Integra Type-R, I used the K&N Gold Class filters because although not as good as OEM, they're leaps and bounds better than the Fram.

I got MY02 about 7 weeks ago. I don't know what oil came in it, but the filter looks generic(mostly white w/ blue lettering). As the oil level has dropped I've been adding Castrol Syntec to keep it topped off, & the rate of oil burn-off has decreased. After reading extensively in this forum I've purchased a 2.5 gallon bottle of Amsoil. I'll be changing the oil very soon(this weekend or the next). I've also ordered LE607 for the diff & GMSynchromesh FM for the tranny. They should arrive on my doorstep w/n the next couple of days. As far as oil filters go, I had already purchased a K&N oil filter. I've heard most people say that the OEM is the best. Should I take the K&N back, or is it comparable to the OEM(PCX). I haven't read anything comparing these 2 oil filters(lots of stuff on all other filters though)

tizbad2k: How often do you change your filter? Does a lot of oil fall out when you haven't drained the pan first? Do you think the K&N oil filter is designed for longer oil filter changes?

WVtwisties: Here is a link showing a disection of the Fram and the OEM:

Just in case you wanted to see it for yourself.

Umm, I'm sure most of that extra power came from the oil, and NOT the blower...j/k

I change the filter around 3k miles. And if you let the car sit overnight, not verymuch oil comes out when you change just the filter.

It sounds like the Mobil 1 synthetic oil is acceptable though. I'm sure if enough people see this, in a few days, it will be 'crap oil' too!
No, Mobil1 is not crappy synthetic oil, but Pennzoil Platinum is better, according to RoadRage. It is also cheaper than Mobil1 by about 40 cents a quart at Walmart.

Due to the amount of mile's I drive, (few) I change my motor oil before I reach 3k mile's. The filter itself (PCX 15400-004) is easily good for well over 5k miles. I change out the oil filter every second or third oil change.
