Default Another brake dilemma

I decided to take a spirited drive home from work today and warmed my Carbotech AX6's (which are crap btw). It then felt like one of my right calipers seized up. Car pulled sharply to the right and when stopped at a light would feel like the parking brake was up a few clicks when creeping forward. I then stomped on the brakes and turned sharply to the left/right in an attempt to loosen it up (probably not the best idea I know). It immediately went away and I drove home normally.

After I got home and gave the car time to cool I went for another drive to try and replicate the problem to better see if I could figure out what happened. Warmed the brakes up, car did not pull and seemed to slow down from a roll normally. When stomping on the brakes however, it would veer violently to the left. The left front would lock up almost instantly and was making ALOT of noise. Then when I arrived at home I find that both RIGHT wheels were MUCH hotter than the left.

I'm confused

Sounds like your calipers are sticking. Check the sliding pins to make sure its lubricated and free of dirt. Otherwise, time for a caliper rebuild kit

What's wrong with the AX6? They work great from my limited experience on the street.

They work horrible when cold (which I expected being a track pad), work great when warm, and horrible and are extremely loud when warm-hot. They used to work great and silent when hot but not anymore. Have been on them for ~10k miles.

Huh... I would say your calipers are sticking also. I would pull the wheels off and do a through inspection and re-lube of the brake system.

I find it interesting you have issues with the AX6 pads. I run the XP10/8 combo and love them, I have ZERO issue when they are cold, hot they are phenomenal and have zero fade (rotors were heat soak blue after a dragon run and the pads never faltered) They can be screechy when stopping but I usually release then reapply the brake and the noise goes away... Mostly the noise makes me giggle

My car had this exact same problem over a year ago. Did you install shims on the carbotech pads? If you didn't I bet I know what the problem is.

I reused the old ones. Probably should have gotten new I know. Ive been driving for 10k on them fine so I assumed if it was the shims it wouldve been from day 1. Think Im going to break down and get XP10/XP8 as i am very dissapointed in the AX6's.

Using the old shims is fine, but when you replace the pads take a good look at the dust boots on the pistons. If they have any cracks or holes chances are moisture entered and destroyed the pistons. This is what happened to my front rotors, the pistons had pitting and would catch periodically causing the brakes to stick. Hope this helps.

Well be warned.. besides $$ for the set-up, the XP10 is a 'race' classified pad and the XP8 is a "track/race' classified pad... So even more aggressive then the AX series... They dust like a mofo... and can squeak something fierce! I don't DD my car but I have never had any issues with "cold" pad stops in dry or wet conditions, but car doesn't get driven at temps below 40F anyways, initial bite has always been good. I do like the pads though
