With due respect, you seem way out of your depth! Why have you not got this car to a specialist, are you short of cash? Did I read somewhere on this site about wear that can occur on the crank, the result of which causing vibration through the clutch pedal? I'm with someone who posted earlier about how difficult a clutch is to do on these cars, I've worked on lots of cars over the years as a hobby, and I would say this is not the best of cars to try and learn on! I've done many clutches but this was the most difficult I've tackled! Please be sure to post if you get it fixed, as like many I'll be interested to know what it is/was.
Read sir...there are no specialists, nor anyone who is willing to work on the car, anywheres near where I live. Now I'm worried the car is in too bad of shape to drive cross country to a specialist.

I'm definitely 'way out of my depth', ill admit that, thats why im trying to learn/find someone to fix it.

I'll be sure to check back and let you know what I find out.
I'd say you should find someone in the New Orleans area. I'm sure there are specialists there...I know it 2+ hrs, but....

Well if the squeal only happens when the car is moving then its not from the engine right?

I want nothing to do with any squeal, unless the car does it while not moving. One thing at a time man.
Of course..From what I can hear, I'd say its either diff, driveshaft etc, or wheel bearings.?

Would any of these be consistent with my problems?
why would ANY of that equate to a rough running engine????

HOW DOES THE CAR RUN SITTING STILL!!!

As of now, by your description, I feel you have a bad thrust bearing in the engine.

Get a dial indicator and measure the crank thrust.

When the car is warm, and you push the clutch pedal down, do the RPMs change or engine respond to doing so? It shouldnt. When you push the clutch down, no change should be felt in the engine at all.

These are links to the regional sections of the 3 big s2000 forums, including this one. Give them a try with a posting....

There are another half dozen Honda forums that have s2000 sections and regional sections as well if these don't pan out.

the original problem I posted about, which we still are yet to diagnose/repair, is bad idle, notchy shifting, power loss, oil consumption, and the motor sounds like its straining...

so far I've:
cleaned/whacked MAP
changed air filter
changed spark plugs
changed tranny fluid
changed diff fluid
checked coil packs
tested primary O2 sensor
tested cat
reset ECU
changed PCV valve
visually inspected vacuum lines
valve retainer check/valve adjustment
tightened throttle cable
cleaned IACV
cleaned throttle body

just a few days back i posted about a squeal I've been hearing, for the longest I thought it was the brake wear indicators on my rear brakes but I changed the pads and the squealing noise is still there. The squeal is very loud and sounds like its metal on metal so In my (non mechanically educated) opinion, id think this squeal should be chased down before the other problems.

sitting still, the car runs as it did with the original problems, bad idle and motor sounds like its straining.

you must have misunderstood what i meant..i didn't mean that wheel bearings, a driveshaft, or a diff would cause a bad running engine...i meant that one of those 3 may be causing this squeal.
