Bummer. I don't understand why you got good compression numbers with all that noise. (see post #13).

Properly adjusted valves make noise. Tight valves are deceivingly quiet.

But this serp belt thing is interesting. Try removing belt, then start car. See if noise goes away. Obviously don't run engine long without belt, or it will overheat, as water pump won't be spinning.

These engines don't rebuild well. You're throwing your money away trying to get it rebuilt.

It does seem that way doesn't it. Is it a matter of making sure that you rebuild it properly with a good understanding of how to avoid the pitfalls?
Is there anyone who is well regarding who is doing rebuilds?

already tried, made no difference sadly. I am thinking it is just a really bad case of piston slap or something deep internal broken, that is what most of the shops thought it was. I am considering just cutting my losses and selling it for pennies on the dollar, and I got less than 250 trouble free miles under s2k ownership. Definitely a serious letdown.

Did the valve adjustment help at all?

Here it is:

Seems better, but honestly its kind of hard to tell. I am not 100% confident that I did a perfect job on the valve adjustment, so maybe another go at that could do the trick, I am really just at a loss right now.

Kinda does sound like rod knock or something of that nature. You did try to unplug the coils, one-by-one ---- to disable each cylinder at a time ---- then listen for changes?

It's very hard to tell from video. I have people ask me to listen to video all the time. Usually cant tell much. That being said it sounds solid but upper end to me from video. Don't forget that I am in Lexington and have many connections here. If it is lower internal, a used oem is what I think is best solution. I was a heavy line gold level Honda dealer tech then shop owner before retiring.
