If you can, keep your AP1 transmission...if youre still doing the engine swap that is

Would like to hear a review on this when youre finished or if other people that did this would like to chime in. Im debating between this or 4.44 gearing.

I had heard that removing the part with the flange was "easy" but I have no idea how. I'd imagine you would need a puller possibly.

Maybe you can google for the service manual and look at that. pdf copies are all over the net; I have it on my kindle.

I'm also debating between this or a 4.44 gear. The 1.16 to 1.28 reduciton ratio would effectively be similar (10% AP2 tranny vs 8% for a 4.44). Gears 1-4 are the same ratio (but shorter due to the primary reduction) but 5-6 are higher to compensate. I'm more leaning toward an AP2 trans myself as it seems to have the best balance of low-gear shortness and high-gear tallness.

Get a impact gun. I have a electric one. I picked it up at harbor freight for like $50. Rent a pulley from auto zone. They charge you for the tools then reimburse you when you return it. It is very simple.

As for me I have a AP1 with this tranny mated up. I love it!!! 1-4 is a little more peppier. I am actually wanting to get gears for my car also. Either 4.3/4.44/ or 4.56. I am possibly thinking about doing a couple of runs with some AP1's and making a video to show the differences. I have some friends with a completely stock AP1, one with intake and exhaust, I/E/TP/ Ap2 tranny and 4.77's. He used to have 4.56's but chipped a gear so he upgraded. He doesnt like his combo. But overall I like the tranny!

I dont know yet since I swapped over the whole engine and trans. The major thing i think is the low end torque.
