I found out what was causing that clanking noise in the front end. When I got home from work today I took the front wheel off and when I was rolling it to the side I heard the noise. So rolled it some more and sure enough something is rolling around between my rim and tire assume it is a nut from the other end of the valve stem, (dangerous?) what else could it be gonna take it to my local tire guy to take tire off and see whats up in there.

Charlie, unless you have special valve stems, most of them don't have a nut on the inside. It's held on with a bulge in the rubber of the stem. Something must have fallen in when the tire was being mounted.

well found out what was causing the noise, took the tire to my guy he pulled it off and sure enough it was a nut that goes on the inside of the valve stem. strange stuff, but glad that's all it was and not the suspension should I bitch at tire rack for properly tightning the nut?

Charlie, are you using stock wheels and valve stems? I have never seen what our stems look like but imagined they were a typical type with no nut - like as seen here:

no running SSR GT1/ 17"s they have a metal vavle stem with nuts on both side(now I know that) , got them from the tire rack, defect, poor quality control, or shit happens? Hey I'm happy that's what it was and not a suspension issue. Just curious if this was a dangerous situation.

Generally speaking, stems using nuts on the inside will have 2 nuts, one locking the other in. I suppose given time, with one gone, the second one would work itself loose and you would begine to lose air pressure, ultimately blowing the stem right out of the tire if now caught in time. As for the nut rattling around inside, that alone would have done little damage. It certainly would not have affected balance to any degree.

ps. You have a very sharp ear for even hearing that little thing rattle around in there.
