The "Bad" Rev Limiter
Has anyone hit the *bleh* limiter and had enough gas in the tank to completely rule out fuel starvation. I've only wondered this because near the limiter with your foot planted is peak fuel need time for the engine. I'm not real familiar with current ecu programming but I have a detailed book about older Bosch Motronic stuff and I thought that the fuel ejector is turned on for a specific period during each cycle (duration is dependant on load, rpm etc) and they just stop turning the ejectors on when the rpm is too high and wait for the rpm to get down to some predetermined lower value. The other thing is that the ecu *could* get an updated rpm many times PER cycle because it has to know the position of the crank quite accurately in order to fire the plugs at the right time. It would seem like cutting only spark would mean you're dumping lots of unburnt fuel down the exhaust, which would seem to be bad for the cat possibly.

I hit the 2nd stage limiter yesterday in 3rd while racing a turbo civic. Totally caught me by surprise. I was like
?? Felt my car kinda just shut down. Good thing I was already three cars in front of him. I've learned my lesson. Next time, when racing a FI or any other civic, I'm going to shift at 7k.
