Default Bearing Going Bad?

Sorry if this had already been covered, I searched but did not seem to come up with the same problem.

MY03 Spa has been in storage for the winter for about 12 weeks.

Took the car out for a little drive this weekend as it was around 60 and noticed it makes a whistling noise as i release the clutch pedal and engage 1st gear and take off. I have noticed this noise before but only when i let the car sit for a while but then it would go away so i never payed much attention to it. Now every time I come to a stop and start back off in 1st it seems to make happen. This does not, as of now, happen between any other gears, only when engaging 1st.

I spoke with some guys at work and they think it might be the release bearing. I'd rather hear it from the S2K experts.

Could this be from sitting for so long? I did just move to Lancaster and drove it 60mi to get here, so I would assume it would be nice and broken in.

Any direction or info would be Great.
