Keep you posted.

Well, I picked up my car last night. I now have new clutch, pressure plate and bearing.

NO MORE RATTLE. The clutch is lighter now and engages sooner.

The service manager told me that the reason they replaced the pressure plate and bearing, was because they were BLUE from overheating. I'm very surprised by that, because I don't RIDE the clutch, it's never been to the track and all-n-all, I'm not rough on the car.

Anyone have any idea why the clutch would have gotten so hot??

I just got mine back yesterday after having the disc, pressure plate and bearing replaced. OMG WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!

As stated in other posts the clutch has a much lighter feel to it. It engages much sooner and is a lot smoother operating also. I like it.

Thanks for the data point - keep us posted as to if the problem is still gone after a couple of thousand miles.

I went down the exact same path that you did. Bought mine in 9/99. Brought in to the dealer in 10/99 complaining about and describing the exact same noise. The dealer removed and replaced the engine compartment heat shield and wrote it as "No problem found". In 10/00, I brought it again for the 1-2 grind TSB and the now extremely loud "heat shield rattle". The dealer did the tranny TSB and replaced the clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing.

After one year, 8K miles, and three track days later, the noise is gone and the clutch take-up is still perfect.

Happy Holidays.

I wonder what part # they used for the 054 TSB that far back that seems to have worked.
