Only about a pint low, can distiller water be added? Thanks

You can add some distilled water if you don't have any Honda coolant on hand and don't feel like buying an entire jug. It will dilute the mixture down a small amount but nothing to worry about if done one time, I would not do that if you get freezing temps in your region though, as it can freeze in the overflow tank, but it should mix with some of the other fluid once you drive it around a bit and the engine warms up and mixes the fluid.

No its type 2 coolant and you don't want to add water to it. Water will contaminate your coolant

Honda coolant is a 50-50 mix with distilled water, adding additional water only takes the mix to a different percentage, you can run up to 60% water safely without compromising the rust inhibiting protection. I wouldn't take it beyond that percentage, but a small top up with water is perfectly safe.

But with the system down a pint I'd keep a close eye on it and try to figure out where the missing coolant may have gone, make sure there isn't a leak in the system. If you keep losing more fluid get it checked out and buy a jug of coolant to keep it filled into the future until you get it figured out.

You know, actually, it may be better for your engine if you have more water than antifreeze in the mixture. I've been told the best COOLANT is water, and the best ANTIFREEZE is well, antifrereze. They make it a 50/50 mixture so its good over a variety of climates. If I were to have 100% water, it would be frozen every morning in winter, but since you live in CA, you dont really need to worry about that. Just some food for thought.

it does help with cooling, but 60% water to coolant is about the limit that you want to still offer good corrosion protection, after that you will need to add additional inhibitors so I wouldn't go that far.

Thanks for all the replies, as I mentioned the coolant is down about a half pint - car is a 2006 w 72K miles - additional coolant has never been added, original coolant is in the car - a half pint down in that amount of time is nothing to worry about.
