Default Bolt on front of engine

Just under the valve cover, dead center of the front of the engine (cylinder head), there is a bolt. Mine is leaking oil. What is this part? I cant find it in the Honda parts pictures.

Thanks,

Jim

tighten it right away, or you will cause some major engine damage

If its leaking, you should replace the o-ring that sits in that bolt. Buy the o-ring, loosen up the bolt just enough to where you can see the old ring, replace, and tighten to spec.

If you loosen it all the way your cam sprocket will fall into the engine and you'll have some disassembly to do.

And some parts to replace if it happens while the engine is running, right? lol

the part number for the rubber o-ring is 15302-PE0-300 and you'll need to torque the allen bolt to 36 ft/lbs. You can also find more information here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/648...ont-of-engine/

Thanks,

The bolt holds the idler gear. If it is leaking oil you may check the torque. It should be 49N-m, 5.0 kgf-m, or 36 lbf-ft. If it is loose retighten, clean, and make sure oil is no longer leaking. If it still leaks you may want to get a new seal, and as noted, only pull the bolt slightly! On the inside of the head is a washer and idler gear.....you are screwed if you pull the bolt too far out. You can easily change the O-ring if needed....just be wary of pulling the bolt more then needed. Most likely it is the torque as it is very common on higher mileage cars. If it backs out driving your in for a lot of parts which is why our friends at Vivid Racing, who supply such parts, have chimed in

Just needs an oring, torque is not the issue causing the leak.

Thanks! If I understand correctly, I don't have to remove the Valve cover. I can loosen the bolt from the front, replace Oring, re-tighten Right?

Correct. In toniotran's link there is a link in the last post to another thread which shows how to fix it.
