don't do this going downhill because a rev limiter won't save you from the gravity acceleration

This engine isn't invincible, keep bangin the rev limiter and count how many times you do, then let us know how many times it takes before it blows up! kinda like a tootsie pop.

I regularly hit the limiter when autocrossing, and when there isn't enough time to shift, I'll ride the limiter. At the very minimum, I've hit the limiter hundreds of times, and probably thousands of times, and for several years now that's all been under boost. We also do regular cylinder wall inspections (at every other oil change, 6,000 mile intervals) and there is NO sign of any excess wear.

So what on earth makes you think that hitting the limiter, which stops the engine from reving a good 600 RPM before any damage can be done, is going to cause the engine to blow up? Do you have some unknown facts to back up your claim that riding the limiter does any harm? If not, then based on personal experience (with this car and many others), then I have to call BS on your assertion.

Note that I'm not suggesting that the engine is invincible, or that it's OK to ride the limiter long term, because there is no benefit, but the rev limiter is designed to stop the revs from getting anywhere close to the point where damage is done. The answer to your question is that I've tried just what you suggest, and the engine will NEVER blow up as a result. Try it for yourself if you doubt me.

Wait!

WAIT!

You change oil every 6000! miles now?
Are you sure?

Btw.. for the shifter beeper!
Thing is: one can listen for the 4th BEEEEEP and look at the road/track at same time, not look at the and look at the road/track at the same time.
Well.. at least I can't.

edit: 4th beep, not 3rd.
beep beep beep BEEEEEEP!

I hit the rev limiter twice, once by accident when i wrung out first gear and once when I threw a CEL right as i was about to hit VTEC (CEL limited the car to 6000 RPM)
