I don't have my manual with me for direct reference but I thought I remembered seeing something about DOT4 was ok (for temporary use) I might be mistaken-I have DOT4 Blue in mine right now along with Hawk pads from the last track day and I am driving my car more and more during the week-should I go back to the oem DOT3 stuff? and also put my oem pads back on?

DOT4 is just fine. No different than DOT3 in terms of approved use, temporary or not.

No need to switch back and fourth from dot 3, to dot 4 and back to dot 3.

Hawk performance street pads are pretty versatile.

Right. DOT4 is just fine for the street. But it's not intended to remain in the system unmaintained for quite as long as DOT3.

If it were me, for a lightly tracked car that also sees the street, I would flush DOT4 fluid every year, and DOT3 fluid every other year. The official service limits, though, allow DOT3 or DOT4 and call for it being flushed every three years. (You may find some track day orgs whose tech inspections require brake fluid to be flushed every year.)

I flush my DOT4 fluid about every six months, but that's with heavy track use.
