Default Brake Line Crush Washers.

Swapping out my rear calipers for some re-manufactured units. I'll need to replace the brake line crush washers on my SOS steel braided lines.

Does anyone know the size of these crush washers? Are copper or aluminum better or worse than the other?

Looks like 10mm and copper seem to be the most popular.

Bill?

Oem ones are silver, don't know the actual material. They're expensive but can be reused, copper ones can also be used but not reused. I'd just take the bolt with me and find a washer that fits snug on the threads.

I always use the silver oem ones. Super durable. Even when doing braided lines I'll re-use the oem ones.

The crush washers appear to be M10.

I always thought copper crush washers were designed to be re-used like the diff fill bolt washer.

Copper and aluminum are soft metals. Prolly should not reuse washers made from them, unless they were lightly torqued-down, the first time. Most steel made washers can be reused. As long as the don't show too much damage, from previous applications. Even then, you can sometimes lap-down the rough spots and they will work fine.

I think the silver ones are more of a steel material. I just had to re-use mine on my 90's Honda and they work fine, it wasn't my first choice as I misplaced the new replacements that I had for the banjo bolts. I think the copper ones are softer.
