One of the factors I looked at while working on brake kit was pad selection. The caliper that I choose uses standard racing pads, giving endless material choices. In racing applications pad companies do not see need for holes and you can tell by how well stock car stops ( compare to Boxer-S big brakes with holes ) S-2000 has better stopping. Weight and cooling are biggest problems with stock system. Latter I will post on calipers.

The gas issue much less of a problem with modern pads.Crossdrilling nowdays is mainly to reduce weight(on large rotors) but reduce the heat sink and crack VERY easily.
They look really cool though and I'd venture that is why people are willing to pay more for them anlong with other argueably usless items such as:strut bars,larger diameter wheels,upgraded calipers,modified air intakes,cat-back exhausts,headers(on S2Ks)ect.

Soon braking 103 4 piston calipers, cost to buy , cost to maintain , how much do they flex , how easy to change pads, how easy to bleed , how easy to take care of finish ,,,,,,,,
