Default Broken Clutch Release Fork Hanger

A few days ago I broke the hanger for the clutch release fork. The clutch is OEM. Is this a common problem? I would expect after market pressure plates with increased clamping pressure to do this even more often.

The parts that broke are # 5 & 6 on this drawing.
Item #5 is HANGER, CLUTCH RELEASE
Item # 6 is SPRING, RELEASE HANGER

Bueller? Anyone?

Not common, even with uprated aftermarket PP. How did this happen?

I do not know. That is why I am asking about other people's experiences. I was just cruising around town and when I shifted into third gear something snapped and the pedal stayed on the floor.

I do run a couple of autocrosses a month, but at the time it broke I was not doing anything enthusiastic, just street driving.

Only way I see this happening is if you stomp dry on the clutch pedal, almost like kicking it dry w/o resting your foot on the pedal first. Other than that im not sure. How many miles on your S2? First owner?

Sales history looks like it had four or five previous owners. Bought the car with 58,000 miles. Now has 97,000.

Yeap. That clutch pedal was definately abused. My stock fork components have 150K mi and still strong. I am the second owner and got it w/ 55k mi
