Car not starting

Car not starting
my roommate's accord is not starting and when he turns the ignition there are sparks from the negative battery connection where it grounds to the body of the car. Any idea what could be causing this? The battery is new, the car was working fine, but he was involved in an accident several weeks ago and got his car back within the last 2 weeks. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Under the Hood is to deal with issues regarding "mechanical" stuff, their problems, installation questions, removal questions, questions dealing with fitment and specifications.
The "Technical" section is even more limited and is restricted to procedures, actual listing of specifications, detailed descriptions and pictures of very specific problems with parts or systems. It is meant as a library of information and not so much as a place to ask questions, although the answers to some questions will represent good reference material for later.
UTH and Technical is for S2000 related topics. We don't want to hear about your Civic or your Ford F150. Post those in "Car Talk".
For example, DON'T post stuff in here ---
-If you are asking about where to find a good mechanic. (Put that in your regional forum where your own people can see it.)
-If you are wondering which exhaust system is the best. (That's general "S2000 Talk" material. Same goes for CAI, horn. We've got a Tire/Wheel forum if you want to know what to buy or if it will rub.)
-If you want to know where to buy something.
-If you are trying to sell something or advertise something.
-If you want to get someone's attention. (PM that person.)
-If you have topic dealing with fixing a dent or "what's wrong with my radio?". (We've got a "Wash/Wax" forum for body stuff and an "Electronics" forum for that kind of thing.)
-If you want to know in general how to make your car go faster.
