Last night I had dinner at The Redwood Grill (Houston) and when I came out, my car would not start. The dash did not light up and the windows would not work. The headlights, A/C, radio, and alarm seemed normal. Any ideas what is wrong?

I always check my fuses first... Do you have any stereo upgrades or anything tapped in the electrical system?

 

Yeah I checked the related fuses they all look ok. I have an after market alarm and one of S2KMan's DCU devices but I've had these on for a while now. Could one of these things be the culprit?

I had the alarm installed over a year ago by a professional. The DCU thing, I did myself.

Might be the ECU or the alternator. Keep us informed.

 

The battery seems ok as the headlights, radio, and a/c seem ok. I dropped it off at John Eagle Honda (JEH) and they are going to look at it on Monday. I'll keep you guys informed. It seems neither JEH or anyone else on the board has had this problem before.

When you say the car wouldn't start, do you mean that she wouldn't even turn over? Or that she turns over, but just doesn't catch?

Did you have any other "coded" keys on your key ring when you were trying to start the car?
