CEL P1456 evap fuel system leak
Hey guys, I got this CEL P1456 come up a couple of weeks ago and first thing I did was tighten the gas cap and made sure it was nice and tight, but the light came back on after a few days.
What else could this problem be? I'm pretty sad about this since I've only had the car for less than a month!
It's a 2002 with 50k miles.
I read up somewhere that it could be the filler neck? Would I still be able to get this TSB done at my local Honda dealer?
I must also add that occasionally when I'm driving around with the top down, I do get a whiff of gasoline
Thanks for any info

Not likely that any TSB would be honored unless you bought the car CPO from a Honda dealer.
First thing I would do is get a new gas cap...they can go bad over time. Clear the code...if it comes back then take a look at the filler neck.

Fuel filler neck. And fill out your profile to say what model year. Some of the AP1s had a deformed filler neck that wouldn't let the cap snug up... you'd think it was tight, but if you really lean on it, you could tighten it up a few more revolutions....
If it is a fuel fill neck you should be able to tell buy twisting the fuel cap tight. It feels like it tightens too soon or get difficult to tighten before it is fully on then that is a good indication of a fuel fill neck issue. You can how ever have another issue. One that you may have to take to a honda dealer to diag. Good luck
first make sure the fuel cap that you have is non vented - fuel tank pressure sensor might be malfunctioning possibly - it is also possible that your vent / purge solenoid is malfunctioning causing fuel tank pressur sensor to read change in pressure in fuel tank. also check your evaporative system canister(holds fuel vapor).
might want to run a fuel evap smoke test to pin point if there are any fuel lines/seals that may be leaking.
