Default CEL and Test Pipes

I had a invidia test pipe, and i also had the spark plug fouler mod. While i did not get a CEL, the sensor was unable to read correctly, and i ended up running VERY rich and my exhaust was unbearable almost. I wonder if the car gained power from running rich with the test pipe, or lost some? I also thought about maybe just having the o2 sensor sense and just deal with it throwing a CEL so the car will read right, and i would get the right performance with the test pipe? (is that true?) I liked the sound of the test pipe with my exhaust, and it did feel slightly faster, but i was wondering if thats dangerous running rich like that, and whats the best way to get the best gains with it?

It not running rich. The cat is no longer present to convert the exhaust, so you think it's rich. Anyone with a test pipe will get the added rich smell. If anything, you're a little leaner, and gained a little power. The O2 in the cat does not affect the running condition of the car. It's only there to monitor the cat activity.

Bill,

On a similiar topic, I have been running the CT testpipe for about 2 weeks, throwing CEL. I just found the damn antifoulers, once i use the obd2 reader to turn it off, thoughts on if i fouled the thing out?

Also, should gas milliage be affected with TP/Catback?

Yes, in the test pipe it's a secondary oxygen sensor. Just there for emissions. No change in performance.

You won't foul out anything. Anti foulers are made to stop spark plugs from fouling on older oil burning motors.

They just happen to be the right size to fit the O2 sensor.

Sorry, I used some of the wrong terms in that one.

I meant to say, I have been unable to find the anti-foulers until now (2 weeks after exhaust/TP install) and the CEL has been on. Since I have been an obd1 guy all of my life, I was wondering if I already fouled out the secondary o2 sensor by riding around with it coding for 2 weeks.

Your O2 is done for, pick up a O2 eliminator and you should be set.

Anyone else share this opinion, or is there still hope for my 02 sensor not being fouled to death.

In my opinion your O2 will be fine. Put them in and try it.
