Default ceramic vs SS headers..., which last the longest?

I would love the look of a stainless header, but how long would it last??? I had seen an integra GSR at work where the header was rusted horribly after i think 4-5yrs of use. Ceramic seams as though it would dissapate the heat better, AND while it wouldn't look as flashy at first, it would never look old and worn in the longrun. Am i wrong, plz let me know! Thnx,

Brandon

Im not sure which header your looking at, but Ive seen a lot of ceramic coated headers rust after only being used for a year or so, sometimes sooner...but Im sure that also has to do with the climate here in NY. Hope that helps.

Really?? maybe it was a ceramic header i was looking at at work. If i do go SS, what will the affect of jet hot coating be on the longevity of the header. Thnx,

Brandon

I had a SS header on my Integra for several years, and it showed no signs of rust or corrosion at all. I think any coated header is going to have a shorter life, since the coating keeps the heat in. Ceramic is an insulator.

Go SS because it will last longer then Ceramic. The only thing you will notice on a SS over time is that the color of the metal changes due to all the heat.

Actually, when it comes to headers for the S2000, there isn't really a good ceramic header out there (unless you are just looking for weight savings). There are only a few headers that will improve power, and I think they are all SS (Toda, Mugen, Spoon).

I just had my turbo header jet coated because the stainless turned on me, but the ceramic will need to be redone depending on how much you use car. And by the way I polished my own header and took me 8 hours.
