Did you recently fill up? Maybe the gas cap wasn't tightened all the way. That is the only time my CEL ever went on. I would check it, tighten it and went off shortly.
this CEL would NOT cause an ECU limp mode, which is he describing by his post.

please people, stop guessing at his problem. it's not helping. he needs to get the codes. period.

hi heres my problem i just got the clutch replaced on my car but the person who did it wasnt to familiar with imports so while in the process of fixin my clutch they gave it back to me to test drive they messed up some of sensors which made my car run like shit and i could tell they didnt know what they were doing because my car gave them a VERY hard time and when i got my car back the second time the check engine light is on the person who installed my clutch just said that i would have to go to honda and get it turned off and its no big deal and when i drove it i noticed a very significant decrease in power and its seems as if my vtec isnt kicking in at all and it wont rev past 7500rpm is this normal? so is my car just cutting off power because of the check engine light or did this guy seriously screw up my car
Stingray, ignore all the guessing, and do what XViper and Wisconsin have suggested. That is, take your car (*immediately*) to Autozone or a Honda dealership and have them read the DTC. Autozone will do it for free. Write down the code, and then post it in this thread. Only then can anyone help you find out what is really wrong with your car.

Everyone else, stop guessing. This guy has enough problems without us adding to it.

We should be happy that we have the technology to diagnose these problems so easily. It takes 20 mins out of your day to go to autozone and have them read the codes to you.

also.... the car does go into a safe mode when the check engine light comes on. This keeps you from damaging it further. This may be why you notice a difference in power.

You'll need to find someone with a scanner. The last resort would be to go to a Honda dealer and get them to scan it and fix it for you. They'll charge you through the nose of course. You may not be in "limp" mode. Limp mode usually won't let you go above about 3000 rpm. You can get a CEL from all sorts of things, some of which really does no harm to the engine, so the ECU won't force it to go into limp mode.

There's an enourmous amount of sensors and wiring harness to damage when doing the clutch. It takes patience, and lots of know-how on this car.

I'll bet it's the knock sensor

As stated, the ONLY way to fix it is to scan it and get the codes. It will likely become very obvious from there
