Check Engine Light
Hey you guys should check out this software at http://www.autoenginuity.com/
Basically if you have a laptop and willing to spend some money on this software you can use this instead of OBD-II =) good luck. I was recommended to get this tool and I am saving up money to get it.
By the way you shouldn't unplug your battery to reset the code because it would erase the PCM's RAM which contains valuable information about what's going on with your powertrain recently. So I recommend not to do that method. Everytime you reset the PCM it will re-learn and if it's learning a wrong code. You might never find your answers even if you bring it to the dealer. But anyways good luck =).

chad, a local auto zone or something usually has obd-II diagnositic stuff and they usually pull the code for free... try that

took it to pepboys but they wanted to charge me $84.99 to pull the code
What Dark said was right. Take it to AutoZone (not PepBoys) and they will pull the code for free and then look it up in their computer to tell you what it is.I ran into a CEL problem after a clutch install. Had AutoZone pull the code and we located the problem. There were 2 vacuum hoses disconnected. Hooked those puppies up and "magic".....no more CEL.
Sidenote: In order to get rid of the CEL, I was pulling the fuse and then waiting a couple seconds. This would reset the ECU and shut the light off.
Also if I am correct you are in Va Beach.

Your not wrong Aus. You can pull a flash code by doing this. Modifry's website documents the procedure pretty well.
Flash codes are not as specific as OBDII codes. For example, there are 3 specific MAP sensor OBDII codes. They will all flash the same 13.
The dangers of pulling a flash code by shorting pins in the Diagnostic link connector, is shorting the wrong pins.
The specific OBDII code will give you the most information to troubleshoot, not just the code but the freeze data stored when the failure occured.

- AUTOZONE does NOT plug in the OBDII anymore, they got sued or some shit...
- You can rent it... actually im not sure why they say "rent" because you have to PAY for the scanner in FULL and then when you return it you get your money back... so its like buying it, using it, and returning it
