check engine light
Find someone who knows how to read fuel trim, or you're going to go broke replacing parts for nothing.
Fuel trim shows the corrective action the ECU is taking to try and compensate for the misfire. It is likely pegged (25% to throw the CEL) one way or the other. RICH OR LEAN
Fuel trim show what the ECU is doing. NOT WHAT IT'S SEEING.
Look at the freeze data, the fuel trim readings will be stored with each code.
DO NOT reset the CEL.
Copy/paste/print this, and stick it in the dealers face. If they don't understand what I've written, then go elsewhere.
PATHETIC....I feel for you bro, you are not expected to fix this stuff. But Honda should, or fire their parts changing morons and hire some techs.
Sorry for the rant, and good luck

Can you recommend an OBD II tool that can read the freeze data/fuel trim? Is there a hand held or do you have to get software and interface for a PC?
Thanks
I got my fuel trim read twice in the last week...the longterm fuel trim is 0.0 and the short term is .01 and does NOT fluxuate at all. I had it read while the clutch was being changed last week. They thought the readings might be inaccurate due to the codes being cleared with the battery disconnected. So i drove it a few hundred miles...the check engine light is still on with the same 6 codes....misfire cly 1234 ,random multiple misfire, and manufactured controlled igniton (p1399). When i had the fuel trim read again they got the same thing! The guy at the shop showed me the readings while it was hooked up..the o2 sensor readings were fluxating like the short term fuel trim should be doing.
Is this info helpful at all in curing my multiple misfires?

I've been battling the misfire CEL for over a year. Recently I've done a map-whack and an ECU reset and it seemed to have not returned for 2 weeks.
I'll try a valve adjustment next. If this doesn't work, I'll have to battle with HondaCare extended warranty.

The crystal ball foresaw his future. It mentioned one misfire would lead to multiple misfires which lead to the compression test that resulted in the head being removed.
Hopefully he swaps the coil packs and the misfires clear up in all four cylinders but highly improbable. On his behalf I will make a sacrifice to the Honda Gods hoping they grant him a CEL free car soon with a low repair bill.

1st compression test
cly #1 100lbs.
cly#2 170lbs.
cly#3 145lbs.
cly#4 175lbs.
2nd compression test
cly #1 110lbs.

As you guys can see BIG problem with cly #1..wicked low compression plus test show leakage and problem in intake in this clyinder.
Im super bummed...im starting to think i didnt get such a great s2k from a fellow member...i mean i bought it last spring and have only put 8,000 miles on it...and this misfire cly #1 business started the day i picked up the car after i purchased it. seller said...."check engine light came on yesterday but it just might need some plugs". Anyway..any advice for what the next step is? The head is going to need to come off right? Any idea on approx. costs? machine shop? what needs to be replaced? Should i continue to drive it..am i causing more damage? Its my only car at the moment but ill stop driving it if need be. Sorry guys im just really frustrated....but any advice is greatly appreciated!
