You may be right-on about he valve adjustment?
Dealer just called and indicated that the valve adjustment may correct the ever present "check engine" light. Of course that little thing is going to cost me $150.00.

Don't seem to have any choice so I gave them the o.k.

Will advise if, like you that corrects it.
Thanks.

Harry,

Before you spend $150 on a valve adjustment, let me know if you'd like it done for a LOT less. I live right down the road in Davie.

However, I do not think a valve adjustment will solve the issue.

And another thing to consider, if you do take it to the dealer for this and the check engine light does not go away, do you think they will reimburse you for the outlay of $$?

There are several of us down here in South Florida with a lot of experience with S2000s, so we should be able to figure this out for you.

Without a code you are guessing at what is wrong with the car.

Don't adjust any valves, or beat up the MAP sensor for no good reason.
You're right, I do agree. I guess I was assuming since he's working with the dealership that they already have the codes. I also wasn't trying to say a valve adjustment would fix it. I was more trying to give him something to maybe ask his tech about.

That might be good idea. They had to do my valves twice. I think they had tweak the exhaust valves a little more the second time.

Did the dealership suggest this on their own, or did you mention to them? Also please do post the outcome. Good luck again.

I have 2002 S 2000. Great car. Unfortunately one continuing problem.
The check engine light has been on for 14 months and 15,000 miles.
We've had it to the Honda dealer 4 times. It continues to show engine misfire. They've done "something" to resolve it each time but 4-5 miles from the dealer the light comes on again. Last time they replaced the "control unit" under warantee - fortunately. Once again the "fix" lasted for 4-5 miles. Oh, also the service guy reprogrammed the spare keys and that didn't take either. He said they were working when we picked up the car.
I can only assume that they stopped working when the check engine light came on again.
Over all the car seems to drive as well as it ever has. Just annoys me that they can't seem to find out what's going on. I called the service manager and he said it's time to call in the Honda engineers. I'm bringing the car back in again - for the fifth time this Friday. Would appreciate any feedback from S2000 owners or enthusiasts who may have run into this problem.
Thanks.
been der 4 times for the same thing.. lemon law?
