Default Check Engine Light Flashing

Bought my s2000 in 2000. It has been the best car by far that I have ever had. I have done a couple of brake jobs and a clutch in 14 years and 185k miles not to bad. Have a had a ton of fun driving the car. My check engine light started flashing coming down pch from Malibu. I have had it parked since then. It starts but feels like its running on 2 cylinders. I think it is some kind of miss fire situation. It has been parked ever since. I live in Sunset Beach near long beach. Can anyone recommend a good Honda mechanic. I have a feeling it is going to cost some dough. Please let me know thanks Mike.......

If you are at all DIY-inclined, have you considered buying a code reader? They run $15-30 and they'll tell you the exact error code and should get you pointed towards a fix.

For mechanics in your area, try https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/845...acks-services/

If you're near Long Beach, try Aliso Viejo Auto Service (http://www.yelp.com/biz/aliso-viejo-...-viejo?q=s2000) or Ballade in Garden Grove (http://www.yelp.com/biz/ballade-sports-garden-grove)

If you go to Autozone you can get the code read for free.
A flashing CEL is probably a misfire. Have you checked your spark plugs and your coil packs?
I had a flashing CEL that ended up being a misfire due to a burnt valve. Hopefully yours is a much cheaper and simpler problem.

If it is a bigger problem, there are some handy people on these forums that may be able to help you out.
If you're near Tennessee, jordanksartell was able to rebuild and install a head for me for a very fair price.

Not anymore. There was a big lawsuit over Autozone offering this. This was of course brought on by your local repair shops that are loosing the opportunities to rip you off. And supposedly it made mechanics loose their job or it had the potential for it to. Of course more b.s. from these lousy mechanics.

Take it to a near by mechanic that offers the code reading for free and just fix it yourself.

Autozone, O'Reilly's, Knechts, I think even Napa all offer free code readings (at least in my area).

It is not offered or allowed in california for a parts store to offer that service unless they have a service bay (such as pep boys)
