Check Engine Light p1456
P1456 which is a Gas LEAK
......the dealer said it might have been just because my gas cap was loose? but when i tightened it the light wouldnt go away?.....i had to get the code taking off by the coding device
should i take it in for a full check up on the code? im still under warranty

P1456 is 99% chance an improperly sealing gas cap.
The light will not go off right away...give it a day.

should i take it to the dealer and will they fix it for free if its under warranty? this is the second time this month
Glad its something little
I see you have a 2002. I have this same problem. Our fuel filler necks have bad threads which causes the cap to bind and the ratchet to engage. This happens prior to the cap being properly seated, thus fooling the owner into thinking that the cap is on tight, when in fact it is not.
There is a TSB out, but it's hit or miss as to whether or not your dealer will fix it free of charge.
The common alternative that I myself use is to grab the cap by the outside and not by the handle. When turning this way you bypass the ratchet mechanism and will cause you to get a proper seal. As you are tightening it you will feel the bind, you will feel heavy resistance, then easy again, then heavy resistance again when it is actually tight.
Good luck
