Mobil1 Synthetic is more popular in America and can be found at more autopart stores than anything else. Chevron Supreme Synthetic is not as popular as Mobil1, but conventional Chevron Supreme oil is one of the prefered oil.

Honda recommended both 10W30 and 5W40, but if you plan to change oil once a year, or 7500 miles whichever comes first, then Mobil1 5W40 is prefered.

Where does it say that Honda recommends 5W40 for the S2000?

Chevron Supreme is an excellent oil. It is quite high in Moly, and users have posted some excellent UOAs on an oil website. It is considered a bargain, and a very good oil.

Using 5W-40 is the appropriate viscosity for your car. In Europe, that is considered the appropriate grade, along with 0W-40. The lower viscosity grades aren't typically available on your side of the pond.

The MY04 owner manual recommended two grades: 10W30 and 5W40. 10W30 for milder temperatures and 5W40 for more extreme teperatures. The only problem is 5W40 is only available with Synthetic formular, that means you should not use 5W40 during the first 7,500 to 10,000 miles.

recommending amsoil 10w-30 if over 10000 miles. buddy is running it and says its great. it seemed like the car idled smoother and was solider tone loaded down low rpm range. this is just observation.
