Default Clicking sound from the rear.

Recently I've had problems, with my car.

Specifically, when I go over small bumps or potholes there is a very noticable knock/rattlying sound from the rear driver tire. The ride quality is a little rougher on the driver side (I think). It's more noticable when in cold weather (even if the engine is warm). Some mentioned it might be a spacer between the spring.

It won't come up on things like speed bumps, but over potholes, uneven road, man holes (even if flushed) it is very distinct. Several people in the passenger side have also confirmed that it's from the rear driver side of the car.

I already checked the bolt on the spare tire (someone suggested this on a club forum) and it's ok there.

I'm sure I'll bring the car in to a dealership to be checked out but I'd like to have some sort of idea on what it might be so I don't get shafted (The car only has 3000 miles on it, so whatever it is it should be under warentee).

Any help would be appreciated.

I had a problem with a noise from the rear tire that I describing as a "ticking" sound. I did a search on the forum for "ticking sound" or "ticking" or "ticking noise". I can't quite tell from your description if it is the same problem I was having, but it sounds similar. I was actually able to find a "tech note" (I don't think it's a TSB) someone posted.

If I remember correctly, my problem was a loose pinion nut and the fix is to put a new nut on (the old one wears unevenly or something); when I took it in to the dealer (the good dealer, not the moron dealer), as soon as the mechanic heard the sound he know immediately what it was.

Good luck.

Try changing your diff fluid. I had the same issue and it went away as soon as I changed the fluid. Do it especially if you've recently installed a gear set.

Well the car is stock with only 3000 miles... I would hope they gave it to me with full fluids.

If it is happening when you start and stop, it would be the axle nuts. Your dealership will replace the nuts and grease them. I had the same problem.

I changed it when I installed gears and about 1 month after installing the gears.
