Default Clunk/Knock at sudden acceleration

I have developed a clunk from the rear end upon sudden acceleration. I’ve noticed it in the following situations:

1.When crusing at steady speed, if I jab at the throttle and make the car lunge a bit, it’ll make a single clunk/knock noise.
2.If I lightly launch from a stop (take off from maybe 3-3.5K rpm), it’ll make multiple clunking noises—about 2-3 clunks/knocks.

Note 1: It is a clunk/knock noise, NOT a sharp click noise. I’ve already done the Axle nut retorque to Billman’s NEW spec, using a huge ¾” drive 3 foot breaker bar. I’ve not had the clicking since, so I’m fairly certain the axle nut issue is solved. Also it is a completely different noise. One thing to note is, I drove around with the clicking for over a year, so I hope there wasn’t any permanent damage to my wheel bearings. Any way bad wheel bearings or not fixing the axle click for a while would create this type of knocking noise?

Note 2: Changed diff fluid last night (Old fluid was 14K miles old). Using Motul 90PA, old fluid was clean with no metal shavings.

Note 3: Diff mounts look fine. I've changed the notorious driver-rear diff mount last year since it busted. Last night while doing the diff fluid, I did not see any more busted mounts.

I’ve research UTH and found this post by XVIPER on a very similar thread: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/269...1#entry5107677

Anyone know how to check CV joints and the prop shaft for bad joints? Is there a way to check them without disassembly?

Solved my problem: Both engine mounts were torn. replaced them both with new OEM mounts and clunk is gone!
