clutch fork "hook" broken
While driving the other day I noticed the clutch pedal get significantly harder to depress, but the car still shifted fine. I figured it would be a good idea to turn around and go home to check things out. As soon as I got the car turned around the pedal would no longer move at all and the car would not shift unless turned off. I took the slave cylinder off to check things out and I noticed the hook that the clutch fork rests in was broken near one of the bolts. I have not yet removed the trans to check things out.
Could that broken part be the problem? Or could something else have caused the pedal to get super stiff and the hook just broke because I was pushing it hard to try to shift the car?
Thanks for any tips.

What most people will say is tear it apart and investigate. Sadly as far as I know clutch forks can only be installed with the transmission off. So guess what you might have to be doing..
Take a pic too of the damage for more help!

The fork clips in from what I remember.
You can remove the fork from the clip but it still remains partially inside the transmission.
I did that in order to grease the spline and fork tips

This happened to a friend's car a few weeks ago. Replaced the hook, spring, shift fork and throw out bearing (also replaced pilot bearing and clutch disk, but those aren't related to the problem). He hasn't had any problems since.
