Default Clutch interlock switch

So I’m having a problem with starting my 01 right now, cars been sitting last few months but I never had this particular issue before.

go to turn the key over and I’ve got power everywhere but when I hit the start button I hear absolute nothing…

Fast forward a few days I read all over forums and saw I could try bypassing the clutch interlock switch with a paperclip but when I pull the switch out I see this wire is not connected? Is it supposed to be? I would guess it should be but I’m no expert so I come to you guys.

Is this the factory configuration I have here?

It's disconnected, which typically means whatever clip was jumping that connector fell out.

sorry I don’t understand

the connector is disconnected because I pulled it, I don’t think it was being jumped by anything before but when I tried to jump it nothing happened, I’m guessing it could be because that wire is disconnected?

those two cut wires likely went to a switch to defeat the interlock. just twist them together.

I see so connect those two cut wires and plug sensor back in? Or do I even need to plug it back

I’ll give this a try when I get back to the car

If you bypass the interlock with a wire (as opposed to some kind of switch), there is no need to plug it back in.

Its safer to bypass to another switch. I used brake pedal. Did a comprehensive diy writeup.

I had an older Corolla 4 banger manual as my airport beater car in Minneapolis. I had the biggest Die Hard battery that would fit in the car.
One day, winter blizzard, snow, etc. Heading for the Northwest Airlines employee lot at the airport and the engine dies. In heavy traffic on the off-ramp. I used the starter motor in first gear, cranking all the way down the street, into the parking lot, and parking space. All on the ability to have the clutch out, brake off, and starter engaged. Can’t do that now. Life saver back then.
