Default Clutch pedal noise

Hey all,

I've searched the forums but could not find an answer to my problem.

My clutch pedal is making a weird creaking sound. I initially felt it and heard it while I was driving. When I got home and turned off the engine, the creak/squeak is still present.

The sound appears as I am lifting my foot off the pedal. It does not make the sound on the way down. Only on the way up. I can actually feel the squeak in the pedal. At first my roommate thought it was a master/slave cylinder issue. But after crawling under the car, we could not localize the sound.

I found a possible TSB for it: "SN040203 02/01/2004 Clutch Pedal Is Noisy or Feels Notchy"

In my case, it feels notchy and is noisy... I am no longer under warranty. Does someone have the full details of the TSB? Just in case I can fix it myself at home.

Thanks!

it may be the slave cylinder. this is notorious for making this noise/feel. i've also had this, along with a loud click in the pedal on my old ap1. but after a few thousand miles, it ended up going away. give it some time.

I have the same squeak noise only when letting off the clutch but never felt anything different.

I think its normal.

Just grease up the shaft under the hood.

Kane,

Could you be more specific? This is my first manual car... I'm not very savvy. Thanks for the help!

Have a read here:

Doing that solved it for me.
It does take some tools to do this fix at home.

But it could be the pedal pivot points itself, the slave, the master or the (brake = clutch) fluid or a combination of the four too.
