Clutch problem
My wife was driving my car to get the top replaced yesterday and said that first gear went out, she said she had to start off in 2nd, and that 3rd and 4th were a bit of a problem, but it ran fine, reverse was also a problem, but it always is for her. She complained earlier that it felt as if she had to push the clutch in 3/4 of the way before she felt any tension or grab.
From what I've gathered it seems as if there is air in the system and it needs to be bled, would it be safe to add some fluid to the resivior and pump the clutch to get it home, or should i take tools and bleed the system when i pick it up, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember correctly, 1-2 and R are all part of the same set of gears/syncros. It sounds to be that you don't have a clutch problem, but a transmission problem. Sounds to me that you need to have the 1-2/r syncros replaced. They are sold as a set with the gears.
It is cheaper to find a good used transmission than to repair your existing transmission.

it needs to be bled and i would put some fluid in it if its low and drive it home it actually seems to get better with the addition of the new fluid. the fluid is dirty and needs to be changed
