Like its been said, either the master or the slave cylinder is going out. Start looking for leaks.

sounds like you def have a leak somewhere. keep an eye on the fluid level, and check behind the pedal at the firewall for fluid. if you've got fluid there, start by replacing the master cylinder (pretty easy and inexpensive to do yourself.)

there should be just a bit of free play in the pedal at the very top, that's normal.

Fluid is fine so far, But When I filled it it turned blacked immediately, how can I pump all that out and replace it with clean fluid?? I also feel that I kind of have a little to much free play. How can I know the free play I have is good?? I also don't feel that pressure when It engages and disengages as before!!! What I am thinking is since before the fluid was probably so low that's why I felt it more rigid, and now with the fluid its so soft?? Please tell me im 100% right!! lol

if all of the fluid was gone, you could possibly have introduced some air into the system. bleed it for good measure, then just continue to monitor the fluid level for a few days

i have to say, it's probably one of the cylinder. I had this happened to me one night when i was leaving work. First it wouldn't go into first but it would go into the other gears. THen it'll go into first but if i get out of first, i'd be locked out. So i had to time it just right to keep the car moving so i dont have to stop and get it out of first gear. Also my clutch pedal was the same way you described. There was no resistence in the the clutch pedal till you're about a couple of inches from the floor. Took it to the shop and they said it was one of the cylinder (slave or master) and it fixed it.

josh7owens, you should probably get your clutch checked out. I heard that when the clutch does that. It's usually the sign that the clutch will go out soon. Sometimes it's really heavy, then it get super soft, then heavy and it'll just go out.
see thats my problem though. the car has 109,000 miles on it and the previous owner said he put a stage 2 clutch in it 3 months before I got it. Thats about 8000 miles ago. I got it off a dealers lot so I wouldn't think he lied to me about it. My cuz (a honda micanic) said that it seems wierd and wants to check it out soon but that means taking the trans out and everything. I guess I'll live with it until it goes out and buy a new one.

also If I pop the clutch going into second it sometimes barks second and other time it seems like it lags but I heard thier is some sort of clutch engagment protection thing on our car? At least I think I remember reading that?

To the OP: your clutch engages when you release the pedal. It disengages when you push the pedal down. It's hard to diagnose a problem when the information given is false.

why dont you try changing the clutch fluid. that will at least bring the engagement point up to the top of the pedal. even if the problem persists, that will allow you to better troubleshoot.

Have a look at this guys clutch care protocol. If it works for Vettes,it will work for any car that is driven aggressively.
