Thumbs up Clutch soft and engages low when cold

Hi,

I recently had a brand new clutch and flywheel installed. Brand new ACT HD pressure plate, Exedy (OEM) clutch disc, and SOS / Competition Clutch Ultra Lightweight flywheel.

When I first got the car back the clutch engaged SUPER low, maybe just a couple mm from fully depressed, and the pedal felt really soft, almost softer than stock. I know people who had the ACT HD pressure plate complained it was too hard, so I was shocked. Then when I drove it on the freeway, it would firm a ton up, just like how I expected it to feel, and the engagement then was somewhere in the middle, and felt about right to me.

I drove this car daily for a 2 weeks, and it was always like this. When I get in the car, the clutch is mushy, and engages too low, as always. And again, after driving a while, it becomes much better. I tried fiddling with the pedal, and didn't help much.

Today, replaced the clutch MC, and bled, after finding it leaking a tiny bit. Same symptoms. I am pretty sure there are no leaks anywhere now. Everything is dry.

What gives? Any ideas? Does the ACT HD pressure plate firm up after warming up? Maybe my slave cyclinder or something else is bad?

Thanks for your help!

the engagement point is mainly determined by the clutch rod setting on a properly working setup, it shouldn't change. That is very odd that your engagement point changes. Perhaps the slave cylinder is shot ?, good chance you still have air in the system as it needs a proper bleeding to get it all out.

You have air in it. Did you Unbolt the slave and gravity bleed it?

For the record, 95% of S2000 clutch master cylinders leak. No need to change them. Change the fluid, keep it clean, leak will stop.
