Default clutch very smelly after a long drive.

hey guys i drove my ride interstate last week and after say about 12 hours i was going down a hill in 6th and started to smell the clutch burning.. so i let it cool down and kept going the car started to play up abit after that..

anyways to keep it short i got it towed home and when they were putting it on the truck they rode the clutch pretty bad smoke everywhere and shit but yea..

This is 1 week later and i drive the car and all i smell is clutch burning after a few minutes of driving.

ive bleed the clutch and still nothings changed..

ALSO its not slipping at all??

any info on what it may be?

You may have burned up your clutch, or its way out of adjustment. Why would you keep driving it after all this happins?

Yeah, I if it is not slipping then I don't see any harm in letting it go. That said, with the issues you described I would say that it has to be slipping, otherwise where is the smoke comming from. The fact that it is very difficult to NOT feel a slipping clutch, makes me concerned that there is something else going on there, that is not the clutch. Are you sure that you are smelling clutch? What is "play up"?

I might be wrong, but this sounds more like burning brakes than burning clutch. As above, you would notice if the clutch was slipping.

Have you checked all of your brake pads/discs for signs of overheating?

If it isn't the brakes that were burning, then your clutch might just be worn to end-of-life.

How many miles does it have on it?

If you had sustained engine braking on a very worn clutch, it could have been slipping. Then the tow guys wouldn't have had an alternative to slipping the cluch up the ramp (because it was worn).

It might not slip now that it has cooled down, but try putting it in 6th and gassing to check if it slips.

I think you're likely looking at needing a new clutch. There are DIYs here on the forum and maybe you could hit up a few local s2k'ers to help you out.

Ckit, you think 6th gear is best to determine if you have a slipping clutch?? I would think you would have to be going pretty dang fast to hit a point where the clutch would slip (most likely Vtec engagement)?

I would think 4th would be the perfect gear, you are going fast enough that traction won't be a factor, the gear ratio is aggresive enough to put a good amount of load on the clutch, and most importantly you don't have to be going super fast. Just my though, maybe I am not seeing something that you are though.

i didnt read the other posts, but from the original post it seems like either the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder might be bad.
