I changed the format to JPEG and cleaned up the photo a bit --- to make it easier to download.

Thanks for the side-by-side comparison.

The pack on the left is oem 00-03, and can be used in 00-05.

The Resistor pack on the right is for 06-09 only. The factory service manual warns of damage if interchanged.

04-05 coil packs can be used on 00-05.

Keep in mind this is USA info. If the Canada cars are DBW 06-09, then it would apply there also.

Everything I've read indicates that 673-2301 is fine for all pre-DBW cars, and that 673-2304 is for '06+. But I've learned to take everything with a grain of salt re: these coil packs.

If there are AP1 guys out there that have had ECU issues due to 2301 coils, I'd be very interested to know. I obviously don't want to be running coils that could damage the ECU or maybe even worse, the piggyback ECU I'm running.

Not sure if you saw me tag you the other day in the thread below (I honestly do not know if the tagging notifies correctly here) but that user appears to have gotten the same NGKs as you did that they worked for him. So now wondering if some are not stamped incorrectly.

I'd prolly follow Billman's advice. There are many Net posts that, let's just say, have little vetting.

As most people already know, Denso 673-2301 coils will fit in a '00-'03 despite most (all?) product and Honda sites saying otherwise. I ordered ONE of these and confirmed it does fit and the car works perfectly fine with this one and my 3 originals, so I went ahead and ordered 3 more of them. I was able to get a decent deal on them, so the price was only slightly higher than the NGKs from RA. The only thing this ended up costing me was some time and frustration... but I learned stuff.

For anyone else that has these same questions and stumbles on this thread, hopefully documenting my struggles here is helpful. Here's a side by side of the 2 Denso coils, fwiw.

Good call. Problem solved

Glad you got those Denso 673-2301 from RA. They're proper coils and cost a lot less than the dealer's price.

Can you elaborate on this @Billman250 ?

Is it the R molded into the side that you are keying into to alert you this is the 06-09 coil?

Everywhere online seems to show the 2301 as the 04-05 coil and the 2304 as the 06-09. It doesn't look like the 2304 has the R on the side.

Just for clarity since many people will stumble on this when looking for coils, and for my own selfish interest it would be greatly appreciated!

It’s not the R. It’s the raised square under the word “Japan”. The manual explains the significance of the raised square, identifies it as a resistor pack, for 2006-2009 cars only. I can get a pic tomorrow and post it up.
