It really wont do anything.

Radiated heat isnt really an issue with air temps, and thats not sealing any of the filter element from average underbonnet temps.

A lot of hot air comes over the rad and through the rad.
I'm also a little confused about how the air that comes from the pipe before the filter gets filtered.

Wouldn't that CAI benefit from one of those hoods with cut outs??? I never seen that setup before. What is it?

i'm assuming there is a conical filter in the mouth, so its not unfiltered.

It's and RM Racing intake. Looks cool, but it's $350. Even if that heat shield does nothing, you did a pretty good job on it and it looks cool.

this is correct, the filter is concave on both sides of the pipes, with a large filter in the center, it is RM Racing as well!

On this intake there is pleated gauze on the front of the filter between the secondary tube and the filter. The secondary tube is just for a slight ram air setup as there is a scoop that sits in the grill connected to corrugated tubing and then it goes up to the secondary aluminum tube . It's essentially a very expensive short ram intake . The RM racing website says it's on sale for $475? WTF?
