the small black button is probably the valet switch for the honda oem alarm (if you have it installed)

There is a small black button on the under side of the dash to the left of the steering column. I'm guessing that its an alarm override button, but I haven't tested that theory yet. I have the stock alarm, and the button doesn't appear to be aftermarket. I was just curious. I appreciate the help on the VTEC though.

My friend, you just met what I like to call the "S2000 hit the wall while my car is still cold" syndrome. I think probably 90% of the owners here have done it a couple of times.

I know the first time it happened to me I was like: WALL. ....almost pissed my pants...

As far as the button on the bottom of your car, it is the override function for the alarm. I would not mess w/it if I were you

All you people need to live here in Cali, where it stays hot or at least warm here all year. I know that cold AIR is good for a car for more power, but not cold oil?!? What are you thinking?

Never said it wasn't at operating temp just a bit below the factory set temp.. Manufactures make compromises. That is why there are aftermarket parts in order to make the car suite your needs. Not running the engine cold just a bit cooler. My temp meter registers 2 & 3 bars occasionally but mostly hangs out in the 2 bar range. So you see it is Just below the point at which 3 bars(what ever that means) become illuminated on the o so specific and precise digital teperature guage.
