Default Comptech SC Impressions and Question

It's great having this thing. I don't know why other people feel as if it doesn't 'feel' that much quicker, but I choose to state otherwise. Vtec engagement is not quite as pronounced and loud as before, but you can definitely feel a stronger and stronger pull as the powerband reaches the 9k limit. The exhaust is louder now (running a Neuspeed exhaust) and the car feels smoother. The greatest investment for the car IMO.

Anyway, my question is, is a cooldown necessary for superchargers after being driven? For instance, a turbocharged car with a turbo timer installed to allow the car to cooldown.

A cool down period is not required like it is for a turbo'd car. It is never a good idea to shut down a car immediately after being driven hard though; at least take a cool-down lap around the block if you've been beating on it really hard right up to your house.

Get that thing on a dyno! You will want you A/F reading to be sure your running safe. If everything is working properly, you should be running a little rich.

There is a dyno jet at www.autotechmotorsports.com

5828 Autoport Mall
San Diego, CA 92121
1-858-558-1100

BTW, tell them to hook up a boost gauge while doing the dyno to see if you boosting properly.

i try to keep it off boost for at least 3 minutes before i know im going to park it. if you have a garage like me, i often pop the hood up and let the heat vent. every little bit helps

I agree, after just having mine done, I have been running lean for a while even before the high boost pulley. Fine tuning your regulator will probably pull some more horses.

Beating on the car at the track necessitates a cool down lap. Beating the car on the street ....................hardly. If you are driving the car on the street hard enough to neccesitate a cool down, you probably shouldnt be on the street in any case.

I assume your running the Denso Iridium spark plugs? What gap did you decide to go with?

I agree with the above posts... just as long as you let it cool down after a spirited drive you are cool. Actually even in turbo cars (OEM only) cooldown is no longer required. With liquid cooled turbos and newer systems that circulate coolant after the car is off.. this is not an issue anymore.

I run a turbo timer on my STi but for the most part its there for when I auto-x and what not... I let the car cool down for a few...

on a second part of my post... I dont own a SC'ed S2k.. but Ive driven 2 of them and all I can say is that I really wasn't impressed. Lack of power under the curve. Its fun and all.. and there IS a difference, but not enough for me to shell my money out for it... just my opinion though.

I just prefer turbo torque.
