Does anyone know how to get the convertable top latches to stop rattling. The passenger side sounds like it is about to fall off. Sorry, I could not get the search to work. I appreciate any help that you can provide.

 

A buddie of mine pointed this thread out to me. I told him to talk to me if his started to rattle just last night.(he was worried about rattles in his car after taking the doors off)

Well the simple fix is get 2 small 2" x 1" pieces of vinyl and shove it between the plastic housing and the metal plate where the latch is. Its a plastic U thats rattling and you want the long parts to stop rattling.

Pinky....long time no connect on a thread my friend!!!!!! Utah here. Pinky is correct but he should have specified heat shrink tubing. As he is one of THE TOP S2000 electronics persons here on the board I'll feel free to jab away! Go to radio shack and get some VINYL HEAT SHRINK tubing that will fit. Then use a blow dryer to "lock it" in place.

You may have a problem that is addressed in a TSB. My soft top latches first started rattling, and then I began to hear wind rushing in between the front windshield and the top.

It turns out that the soft aluminum used in the latch plates wears a slot over time, and then does not hold the latches as tightly. Since the hard top latch plates are heavier metal, the TSB suggests replacing the soft top latch plates with the hard top latch plates.

I did this, but I guess we'll have to wait two years to see if they actually last longer. I was just about ready to shove something in there as suggested above, but the air gap sounded like a more serious problem, so I'm glad I had it fixed HONDA's way.
